Who is Sam Bahadur Manekshaw?

Sam Bahadur Manekshaw was one of the 40 students selected for the first batch of the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun in 1932. After receiving a commission from there, he joined the Indian Army in 1943. In 1969, he was made the Army Chief and in 1973 he was given the honor of Field Marshal. He played an important role in the India-Pakistan War of 1947–48 after the partition of India. On 7 June 1969, Sam Manekshaw was made the 8th Chief of the Army Staff of India, succeeding General Kumaramangalam. The moment of testing his years of experience came when during the 1971 war, Indira Gandhi wanted him to attack Pakistan in March. But Sam refused because the Indian Army was not ready for the attack. He asked for 6 months time for the attack. The war finally started on 3 December. On December 14, 1971, the Indian Army attacked the house of the Governor of Pakistan in Dhaka. After this, on 16 December, East Pakistan became independent and became ‘Bangladesh’. In this war, 90 thousand soldiers of the then East Pakistan were killed.

Manekshaw was honored with Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan.

Sam Manekshaw was one of the greatest military officers in the country, on whose life this film is going to be made. Sam Manekshaw had received many honors. In 1973, he was awarded the title of Field Marshal. He was the first Indian general to be awarded this post. In 1968, he was awarded Padma Bhushan and in 1972, the Government of India also honored him with Padma Vibhushan.
